To prevent irido-corneal adhesions

In this condition, there may be involvement of cornea which can cause ciliary spasm. Hence to relieve the spasm,a powerful cycloplegic like Atropine is indicated. This will also relieve the pain to some extent.

It is not a routine to prescribe atropine ointment with corneal involving keratoconjunctivitis.

I agree with Bharat Gunani"s answer. Atropine is indicated if there is corneal involvement with blepharo-spasm and also if there is associated Uveitis(rare).

Atropine is not usually indicated in my opinion, and I agree for its treatment role in case of concomitant uveitis
