The Chapel Hill study was the initial investigation of what we now call the first level of agenda setting. In their study of the trends in agenda setting research from 1972 to 2015 Kim, Kim & Zhou in the current issue of The Agenda Setting Journal found 304 first-level studies.
A good starting point for a bibliography of these studies are the footnotes from Chapters 1 & 2 of McCombs, Setting the Agenda, 2nd edition (Polity Press, 2014). In turn the references cited in these studies will expand your bibliography, and the references in those studies will continue to snowball your bibliography, etc,
