Why to restore Non Carious Cervical lesion before connective tissue graft and CAF?

I need to do that in miller class 1 B+V NCCL lesion, how does the restoration benefit the soft tissue coverage (line CAF or CTG). what if we don't restore the lesion and do a procedure to gain maximum root coverage (MRC)
