I have the impression that some people may be manupulating the numbers of reads. If this is not true, why there are publications with thousands of reads without a SINGLE download?
It is strange that thousands of people do the reads but are nor interested in downloading the publication.

There are different reasons of ZERO downloads but with thousands of reads of an article:
1). some people have a short look on the article and don,t want to download because of not so much interested/or they don,t want to keep the record for further reading.
2). people with little internet facility or because of time limitation try to download the article for future reading during spare time and also interested to help those in need to provide its soft copy.
3). those want to print a hard copy in the future also download the same.
