Why the success rate of SD rat modelling is so low, ask for experience sharing
The specific operation is as follows: SD male rats, weighing about 290g, mfb site injection.
The concentration of 6-OHDA solution is 4ug/ml, and 2ul is injected.
The 6-OHDA powder is dissolved with 0.1% Vc solution. Prepare on the day of use.
Wrap with tin foil to protect from light and put it on ice.
(Does the 6-OHDA solution look pink or colourless to the naked eye before injection?)

You didn't mention what did you mean by the success rate. If you meant that there was not a significant difference between 6-OHDA group and healthy normal group on behavioral tests, it might be due to the nature of SD rats, which are not much active. Thus, it is somehow hard to do behavioral tests on them. Wistar rats are more suitable for this purpose.
It means that fewer rats become PD models. For example, when I do 6 rats at a time, only two become PD models. The judging method is through behavior test, the number of rotations per minute>7 is successful
