I've already adjusted the pH of my sewage sample between 2-12 but still the result is a water with rust like color. I've already considered changing the current supply and electrolysis time but still the same undesirable color are obtained once i discharge the supposedly treated water from the reactor.

1. What was the final pH after the electrolysis time and what is the initial concentration of chlorides in the wastewater?
2. What is the electrolysis time you have maintained and what is the capacity of reactor?
3. What is the number of electrode you are using? (Monopolar or bipolar)
Our colleague Sri Kantha has, perfectly described your problem. At that pH range iron chloride will precipitate, increasing its efficiency at pH5-6, the colour and texture you describe perfectly fits with the iron chloride flocks.
What current are you applying?, maybe it is too high and you are generating iron in excess.
1. The final pH is around 6. For the chloride concentration, I haven't checked it yet.
2. 1 hr electrolysis time. The capacity of the reactor is 2.5 L
3. 4 iron plate electrodes connected in a bipolar configuration.
@Sri Kantha, how would these parameters become the reason for the intense yellow color of my treated water?
@Jordi,, at current more than 2 A, the yellow color of water become very observable but at current lower than 2 A, there's no sludge nor froth formation.
