Why the sewage water I treated using electrocoagulation & iron electrodes resulted to have a very intense yellow color and unstable sludge?

I've already adjusted the pH of my sewage sample between 2-12 but still the result is a water with rust like color. I've already considered changing the current supply and electrolysis time but...
