I have 2 types of catalysts. I used both in the same reaction.In kinetic study, i come out with one model based on the reaction mechanism. However, the model only fitted well with experimental data only for 1 catalyst. It supposed to fit both or not?
You should give more information i) how do you know that the fit is not satisfactory ? ii) is the fit correct for each catalyst when used alone ? iii) what is the model used : a functional or a differential equation ? iv) have you any data to communicate ? ...
Catalysts can change both the rates and the mechanisms of reactions, so it would not be surprising that one model cannot fit both catalysts well. It would be highly unusual if the same mechanistic model with the same parameters fit two sets of data. To say more than this requires much more information such as indicated by Dr. Maccario.
It is enough to change one catalyst component to obtain another form of kinetic equation. There are many examples. For example, the synthesis of methanol on a copper catalyst with various additives, steam reforming of methanol and ethanol etc.
