We have a FTIR Spectrometer in our lab. It suddenly stopped showing the interferogram when we are scanning in the MIR range (after putting the correct beam splitter). However, the reference detector inteferogram is showing. When we are putting the solid state beam splitter for FIR range, its showing the correct interferogram.
I was told that a possible reason is that the MIR detector has somehow been fogged. Can anyone tell me if any other possible reason the interferogram is not showing? And in case if its indeed fogged, is there anyway to clean/de-humidify it or the detector needs to be replaced.
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Yes, only a noisy line is coming in the interferogram window in the software in MIR (KBr beamsplitter). However, FIR is showing interferogram with its beamsplitter.
I can see the reference detector interferogram when I am clicking the option in the software. If the beamsplitter has gone bad will we still see the reference detector interferogram?
I don't have an extra beamsplitter, in that case how can I confirm if the problem is with the beamsplitter or detector?

Our beamsplitters need to changed manually. I tried to see if I can see any spot but I am not too sure if the problem is with the beamsplitter. I don't have a spare as well.
Can you please let me know, if the KBr in the beamsplitter or the detector has become non-transparent, is there any way to clean or de-humidy it or we have to change it?
