Does anyone know the reason why the growth potential of hybrids derived from Kiyomi and grapefruit is weak? I have done the same cross-pollination for two years. Each year collect the mature seeds of hybrids, remove seed coat, and sow them in greenhouse. Compared to other cross-pollination hybrids, these hybrid seedlings from Kiyomi and grapefruit grow very slow and they are subject to be attacked by fungus. I have sprayed chemical in advance and used different substrate, but it still doesn't work.
It could just be 'normal' hybrid weakness at the post-zygotic stage associated with those two species. Perhaps leave the seed coat on, which might provide protection from fungal attack, but you might then need to stratify or scarify the intact seeds. I hope this helps :)

Thank you for your advice. I want the seedling grow at a similar rate, so I removed the seed coat. Perhaps, just scarify the intact seed can also get the same result. I will try this method, thank you.
One of the most common causes in the growth potential may be due to impurity of developed seed, involved the parents in the pollination programme.
IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THEY ARE GENNATICALLY WEAK . are they coming from F1 or F2 because segregation may cause weakness of the resultant. Any way Mr. Andrew Paul suggestion could be useful I guess and U can try it
They are F1 seedlings, for the first they cannot grow well, but the next year the condition is much better but still slow than other hybrids.
