Left side of the specimen is applied with fixed support and load is applied downward on the right hole. I need an explanation why the crack propagate to left hole. What i have in mind is since the left hole has larger diameter, so the stress concentration is higher. So the crack tend to propagate there. I'm not sure if this is a correct explanation.
