During my study I observed that stresses are getting matched for shell and solid model of same geometry and loading conditions. But, strains are not even comparable, Is there any limitation of shell mesh causing this?? My model is simple. A T joint which is fixed at ends on bottom plate. And axial load is applied on edge of vertical plate. Please find attached file.

If I'm not mistaking, there should be a difference because of the difference in meshing algorithms. Also material properties have great influence. In shell meshing the material is considered homogeneous. This is not valid for all materials.
Thanks Mihai. I would like to further add that material properties are same for both model. But if you refer attachment, stresses are also varying in 10-15%. Now I am facing real problem when I am going to validate these results with experimental results. So which values should I compare solid or shell. Also this error further mking confusion as my major work is on shell mesh. So even if experimental results match with solid results, when I compare same with shell it will make huge error.
Whenever you are going with shell meshing, you are losing something. Solid meshing provides you the best possible detail description. Therefore, a solid mesh is expected to provide a good agreement with experimental results, as compared to a shell meshing.
