I was thinking about scrapping of the silicate layer from TLC plate and using it on another glass plate. From what I read online, this does not sound like it will work, so my question is why not.
Additionally, I could not find specific names of appropriate binders besides gypsum, can anyone recommend a few?

Dear Aleksey Lanin, at least because the gypsium is already reacted, if you want reuse SiO2 you will be obliged to add another amount of gypsium or another binder to maintain thé film coherency, but this way the chromatographic character is lost. Please check the following links. My Regards
