We need experience to be wise and to make good decisions. Experience we got from all those bad decisions we made.
We learn how to overcome obstacles only through experience. No amount of theoretical problem-solving is a substitute for the real thing.

Once, Marylin vos Savant stated that "to acquire knowledge, one must study; but to acquire wisdom, one must observe".
As I see it, this idea partly explains why implicit or informal learning through life experiences is what that matters most in personality development. It is often said that we learn more from our everday life experiences than from reading books and books. As Kirk say,. we learn how to overcome obstacles only through experience. Actuallly, no amount of theoretical problem-solving is a substitute for the real thing. It is through our life experiences with the physical and social melieu that we become wise, and to be wise is more important than to get theoretical knowledge and information. That the elderly are often the wisiest people only compounds the idea that implicit and informal learning lies at the heart of one's personality, education, and development.

Once, Albert Einstein stated that "Experience is knowledge. All the rest is information", This Einstein's cogent remark leads us to think that life experiences is what matters most in one's learning and personality development. As I see it, life experiences, mainly when they are continuously reconceptualized, lie at the heart of our development, knowledge, learning, and personality. If I am not wrong, this idea is implicit in your otherwise interesting question.
