Learning culture, without a debate is important, to work, to survive and to progress for any organization. Today's era demands spirit of continuing education and life long learning among individuals. No matter what ,organization supports you with money or time or not; this is one's personal motivation and desire to equip oneself with knowledge and skill necessary to survive ever evolving, rapid changing world.
I think it is very important:
I worked in one organisation "a great organisation" but it didn't have much training and development for its employees. It was all on the job learning which in itself was very good.
I worked for another organisation "again a great organisation" but it had lots of training and development opportunities and also a fund which allows all employees £200 a year to train in something they want i.e. Fishing, Motorcycling, etc.
A prefer a combination of the two. Learning on the job from experienced employees and learning by doing. However, it is great to have a lot of additional training and development opportunities available and also that the company provides you with money to pursue training in something that may not benefit the organisation.
