Techonoly has changed our life style. We live in a world that is vastly different from the one that existed 50 years ago, and this world places a whole new set of pressures and challenges on us.
The world is more complex than ever before, in a number of ways. There’s more information, more sources of information, more possibilities to choose from in life, and the systems around us are more complex than ever before.

There are many reasons for people becoming more restless in today's times; some of these are as follows:
--It is a competitive world, which is driven by globalization realities. So people want to do better so as to survive and excel. Often, they have a lot of pressure while doing so because there are so many competitors with different resources and competencies. When they find themselves lacking in some aspects, they start scrambling for support, knowledge or power so as to win the race. This makes them restless.
--There are several opportunities in the globalizing world, which people want to avail, which make them search for ways to avail those opportunities. In the process they become restless, as others are competing for the same, which they find to be obstructing their way.
--There is humongous information available through the net, social media and the other sources. They search the relevant information, which necessitates a lot of efforts, making them sometimes restless.
Restless means to be without rest or relax which is due to anxiety or boredom. Dynamic implies constant change or making progress. A person can be restless but without making any progress, or the contrary.
In the present era, life requires people to be restless, non necessarily dynamic.
Either we can waste our time being restless in front of the computer, or travelling to work, etc.; or we can earn lots of money restless when working in front of the computer, and planning our duties (responsabilities) or learning something while driving to work. In this last situation, we are grabbing more power, not in the first one.
It all depends on the kind of person we are, or on the opportunities life offers us.
First, what is this thing we call restlessness? There is a range of emotional reactions to stimuli that range from pleasure to panic. Somewhere in that long, complex thread exist some reactions that we call restless; they range from mild anxiety, to not be able to sit still, to needing to do something physical or metaphysical (breathing, yoga, meditation) to alleviate the restlessness. What’s interesting is that we all intuitively understand the word, although it may mean something different from a phenomenological point of view to each of us.
Second, whence comes the restlessness? Is there a psychological or physiological cause—or a combination? Restlessness is most often seen as a psychological phenomena. Before going on stage, many actors experience extreme restlessness (e.g. anxiety, fear, stage fright). As a former actor in high school, college, and community productions, I was a nervous wreck before any performance, walking aimlessly, bouncing up and down, generally feeling an almost uncontrollable restlessness. However, the minute I went on stage, that fear, anxiety, restlessness turned into adrenalin which I used to invigorate my role. The same transition occurred numerous times in job interviews, where restlessness (isn’t it a form of anxiety?), which made it almost impossible for me to sit still, was transformed into a positive adrenalin rush when the waiting was over and the interview began.
However, there have been times when my restlessness wasn’t associated with anything concrete; it was a vague, sometimes overpowering sense of discomfort within my own body. Medication, activity, and time usually sufficed to make it go away. Other things mentioned here—meditation et al.—also can work.
But I believe there is a phenomenon that can be called physiological restlessness—you’ve no doubt seen or had yourself the experience of people just shaking their legs up and down, feet on the floor; or walking aimlessly and restlessly. It is sometimes psychological, but it can be attributed to an over-active nervous system, similar to fibromyalgia but without the pain. Medication such as Lyrica, which are not without side effects, can do an amazing job alleviating the feeling of restlessness. It is not anxiety, although it’s very hard to get most doctors to understand the difference; anti-anxiety medication has no effect on it.
Third, “supposed to do” suggests that restlessness is bad and therefore should be eliminated from the various issues going on in your life, as if there’s one and only one solution for anything perceived as a problem. Before you breathe slowly, do meditation, or take drugs, ask yourself the “why” question: What’s going on in your life that could be causing the feelings? Why are you feeling this way? It may be a signal that something wrong is going on. It could also be a signal that you’re like a race horse at the starting gate, anxious to get going. Restlessness isn’t necessarily bad, but it’s almost always (unless is physiological) an important signal from your body.
Bird research indicates there is a link with personality profiles.... Some personalities are more restless than others, whatever the environment. It's defined as a behavioural syndrom
Because Most of the peoples are Employee in various sectors and also more Competitive & Population. But in Olden Era Less Population and Self Employment.
Human beings become restless due to his creative notion with make him contemplated but moody without any sense purpose .Restless is not a healthy sign as whatever may be the development of an individual he can't make desire progress in his life as his mind is of weaving nature.
Such person becomes over ambitious ,sensitive & sometimes carry out their action under tension & frustration mode. With this sort of the nature & temperament such people are bound to be restless.
Dear Marcel. That is a lovely comparison, with the birds. Yes, it may have something to do with personality. Some are more restless than others. Rohit may be right too, in his observation. of human personalities. I also find that some cope better with stress. And Antonio may be right too, in the sense that it may not be related to a particular era, but transversal to humankind. Diversity is , to me, the greatest treasure of Humankind...
This shows how dear Abhijit question is so interesting. Thank you !
... And this shows how you try to be nice with everybody, Dear Maria. Thanks. Surely that I am right, even if I did not write or meant nothing of what was suggested by you.
work becomes more pressing each day, always new goals to achieve..at the same time the children grow up and require an increasing involvement: they will be the adults of tomorrow and we must invest in them to built a better future (I hope)
then, there is no time to rest in the present era....
Je suis D’accord avec Marcel. Time is a good advisor, and is frequently a synonymous or is normally related with the progress. It will separate the wheat from the chaff. We need to be patient. As always …
I like to believe that it is psychological. Technology may have advanced but the world is still very much the same. Evolution and adaptation levels out the playing field.
We may see it differently because of what is being advertised and global but all the good and horrible things happen whether or not the media is watching. This could be why we are restless, the world appears more scary.
Or maybe the world is that much more scarier and our idea of self identity is compromised.
Maybe our self identity has always been compromised and it has a vice verse effect on the way we see the world, treat it, and react to it.
We become restless for which we run with time & watch to carry out our action in fast & speedy manner this is fallacy of mind of individual who does not sit in calm & quite manner to carry out the working action of his life .
Such person becomes over ambitious & some time back such person become jealousy of his fellow beings to surpass him . To me his mind work in his wrong direction & by nature it is very likely that such person remain in irritation mood ,enable & jealousy nature & to reach goal of his life , he becomes crazy & over ambitious .
"In this day and age, the human society is progressing rapidly on various fronts. Many modern technologies were invented by human such as cars, computers and Internet, and the efficiency in business transactions and production has been greatly enhanced. But advances in technology lead to our pace of life much more faster than before, people have no enough time with their family. In this essay, I would like to analyze some possible causes of this phenomenon and it is influence for families and society.
It is evident that the causes of this phenomenon are diverse. In the first place, advancing in technology to improve the efficiency of production, but also cause people to do more things at the same time. Moreover, this is especially true when we consider the fact that the global financial crisis in recent years has led many people to fear losing their job, and the significant raising costs of live which needs people to work harder than before. Furthermore, employees that working for multination companies may be scattered at whole world. For example, my friend often holds a meeting at middle-night with his colleague who stays in U.S. and he still needs to work at daytime."
I feel that the people are becoming restless as they are unable to enjoy life/jobs/leisure due to a variety of distractions including the social media/need to remain connected. They somewhere start living and believing more in the virtual world rather than the real world.
