In my experience, patients with PMR can have a good response to 6-methyl-prednisolone and not to prednisone, or to classical prednisone (Deltacortene) and not to modified-release prednisone (Lodotra). Obviously with the same dosages (or equivalent). Is it so also for you ? Why is it possible ?
The possibility that pazient with PMR can have a good response to a glucocorticoid instead to another different must be known in the clinical practice.
Only if two glucocorticoids are no effective, the clinician can question the initial diagnosis of PMR.
The prompt response to corticosteroid therapy is an excellent diagnostic criterion (even ex adiuvantibus) although recently some groups have shown no statistical significance of this response.
I always use methyprenisolone as most of the literature and reviews used it.
