why pd or pt used extensively in catalysis.?
due to some outstanding characteristics like
1: Less reactive so remain in metallic form for a long time as compared to other metals
2: resistance to oxidation even at higher temperature(coz high M.P)
3: resistance to the poisons eg sulfur phosphorus lead etc..
I have employed a PtM/C (M= transition metals) based alloy catalyst for the ORR in acid, though i got a good limiting current but the E1/2 is disappointing, i would acknowledge useful suggestions...
