I did DNA extraction of cyanobacteria. Up until the very end it seemed to be working fine. The Chloroform/isoamly alcohol (24:1)  steps all formed a separate layer when introduced and seemed to be taking off the proteins. I added the isopropanol and leave my samples overnight. But,when i did the 70% ethanol precipitation, i got very thick pellet of salt (may be protein). The concentration of DNA  in my samples is 100ng/microL with purity 1.4 (260/280).I was wondering if anyone had ever experience this problem and know possibly what went wrong.

Thanks a lot!!!!
