I prepared CuS nanoflowers, CuS-TiO2, CuS-TiO2-RGO and clearly observed the adhesion of TiO2 nanoparticles on the petals of CuS flowers through SEM images. In case of absorption spectra I didn't find the absorption peaks of TiO2 as well as RGO. A single wide absorption peak of CuS is observed from 400-600 nm but the peaks related to TiO2 and RGO less than 400nm was not observed. Please give the suggestions.
Hi Debmalya Roy, Thank you for your pleasant reply. I got the average size of TiO2 particles between 50-100 nm as same as the size of CuS (50-100 nm in average) from TEM images and i found that TiO2 particles are accumulated on CuS in the SEM images but instead of showing absorption of both TiO2 and CuS showed the absorption of only CuS. If you have any references related to this matter send me, it will be grateful to you.
Here is something which you may consider
If you have two different materials of same thickness and same absorption cross-section then the absorption spectrum will show the features of both the materials.
If you have two different materials of same thickness but largely different absorption cross-sections then the absorption spectrum will show the features of only one material.
If you have two different materials of largely different thickness but same absorption absorption cross-sections then also the absorption spectrum will show the features of only one material.
In your case also, may be one material is dominating over others depending on the absorption cross-section, amount of material, particle size etc.
Can you provide the absorption spectra of all the three materials so that it will be easy to explain the behavior which you have observed? As pure TiO2 has almost no absorption peak up to 400 nm and then absorption increases strongly. As your material contains more than one element so there need a good medium in which all the elements should present before the absorption study.
