I am currently working on atrazine degradation using bacterial isolates. I inoculated Mineral Salt Medium (MSM) with atrazine-degrading bacterial colonies and monitored the process via UV spectrophotometry. A distinct peak was observed at 218 nm with an absorbance of 2.04 after 24 and 48 hours, and this absorbance remained unchanged even after 72 hours.

Could this indicate that the bacteria are not actively growing or not degrading the atrazine? Does the constant absorbance suggest a lack of metabolic activity or breakdown of the compound?

Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
