The sun is relatively close to being a perfect sphere though has a slight equatorial bulge and is flattened at its poles due to its rotation. This is called solar oblateness.

Still, the sun is relatively close to being a sphere; its diameter is about 1,390,000 kilometers, bulging only by about 10 kilometers at the equator.
