Hi,

Usually, many trivalent lanthanides show a strong CT band (200-300 nm) due to electron transfer from ligand (say O2-) to Ln 4f states. However, in solids, I have observed that Gd3+ does not show any CT band in that region. Is it due to its half-filled 4f-configuration?
