Unless your work is published in a recognised journal, it will not show in Google Scholar. Journal proceedings are not classified as publications and actually I would avoid producing them because they are not peer-reviewed and you make your data vulnerable to theft :)

Hi Andrew Paul McKenzie Pegman, this has actually not been my experience. I am not familiar with the terminology "journal proceedings"; is the distinction you are making here between "journal articles" and "conference proceedings"? If so, I've just searched a lot of my other conference papers on Google Scholar and they all show up. I would disagree that conference papers are not considered publications; at least in my field they are. Granted, journal articles are generally considered more difficult to publish and requiring a larger body of research and scientific rigour, but this doesn't mean that they aren't peer-reviewed. Regarding data theft, I haven't ever heard of this being a big issue for peer-reviewed papers; at least not for the conferences that I've published at.

I would still avoid conferences. Why show people your data before you have formally published it? Intellectual theft is now rife, as evidenced by the most prolific science article publisher in the world now being banned from his own university. It is more excellent to publish an article than a proceeding and we want to be excellent 😊

You can manually enter the conference paper into your Google Scholar account by clicking the + sign. You can also search for any publications by your name that are not included in your profile.
