Hello, I prepared Graphite Oxide by Hummers Method and then got it exfoliated in a microwave at full power around 700 watt for around 10 seconds. And the GO pellet exfoliated into spongy light black stuff. I then Wanted to disperse it in Ethanol but couldnt. Even after an hour of sonication.
Then I tried water and SDS as surfactant but it still didn't work. It Also didnt work in DMF either. I don't understand whats wrong :/

Microwave exfoliated graphene oxide (MEGO) will not disperse in ethanol .. but will disperse in DMF but at low concentrations.. typically around 1-2 g/L..
Many reasons: surface tension, lack of functional groups in MEGO to interact with ethanol etc...
