I am using Fragstats to extract some land-use metrics. My input file was an ASCII from ArcMap.
To check the results, I calculated the land use percentages based on the attribute table given in ArcMap and compared them to the percentages calculated by Fragstats. However, the results are different. In some cases, the Fragstats' values are about 3 times higher.
Anyone who could help me solve this issue?
This is just a wild guess, but I'm wondering if it has to do with differences in how FRAGSTATS and ArcGIS might deal with "background" cells? I'd first double-check to see if the total number of cells in your landscape is the same. Also, you may want to take a look at how FRAGSTATS deals with background cells if you haven't already.
