I also work on green synthesis of nanoparticles. It is not necessarily true. When we do co-precipitation and solution combustion methodology, the yield has always been greater than 50% (min.).
@Shalu, how sure are you that solution combustion won't affect the nature of the synthesising nanoparticles? Most of the green synthesis I'd come across has always been carried out in room temperature, then centrifugation.

@temidayo in solution combustion route we do homogenisation at room temperature only, after that put the solution in muffle for combustion. Because we only want metal oxide and other part has to be removed in the form of gas. So basically after combustion what we are left with is metal oxide and carbon.
