I would like to explore my interest in dyslexia, but I see little mention of it in class, websites, and information resources. Is there a reason that dyslexia is not mentioned often? Other disorders that may include reading difficulty are represented often.

I believe you are under the wrong impression: there is great interest and large research contribution to dyslexia as language impairment. I dedicate at least a couple of lectures to this topic during a semester's teaching , and have been involved in dyslexia research for years. If you're interested I can share some of my research experience and also provide a selective list of the vast literature mine and other research groups use as reference. In terms of mentioning in class, as far as I know all serious speech therapy courses have dyslexia as central issue. I'll be glad to help.
