There is no reason why it should clot faster than other specimens. Try heparinising the syringe. How long after the transplant do you sample the marrows? Do you have experience in marrow sampling procedures? What were the indications for the stem cell transplants?
Thanks for your reply. It´s has happened whether I sample tha marrows 2-3 months or 18 months after the transplant. I could not find out a single hematologic malignancy common to all cases. I wonder if it is associated with any concomitant drug. Next time, I´ll heparinize the syringe and see how it works.
Before procedure heparin should be added to syringe. It can be done in all hematological malignancies, as soon as early as possible following aspiration.
We also preload our syringes with heparin before aspirating marrow. The tricky part is getting it well mixed after the syringe is full. We invert several times.
