I am doing absorption spectroscopy of micro-plasmas (Fe/C targets) using laser ablation (355 nm). I observe absorption of 247.85 nm Nd:YAG+OPO pulse in Fe micro-plasma (Fe II 247.85 nm) for pure iron target. However, there is no absorption for the same wavelenght for pure carbon target (C I 247.85 nm). I can´t explain why...
Optical emission spectrum confirms the same wavelenght of C I, Fe II and laser beam used for absorption shadowgraphy.

We observed absorption for Fe plasma in range of 200-20 000 ns and it is observable for wavelenghts 247.60-248.40. There is resonant line of Fe I at 248.32 nm.
There is no absorption for C target in this range at times 100 ns - 20 us (there is no resonant line of C in this range).
We are going to try another targets (Al, Si,...) for absorption at given resonant lines.
