In order to check proper working of my potentiostat, I have performed CV of 10 mM potassium ferricynaide/ferrocyanide redox couple in 0.5M KNO3 (figure attached). An Ag/AgCl reference electrode and Pt plate working and counter electrodes were used. The difference of cathodic and anodic peak potentials is about 170 mV, meaning that the system was not reversible. I wonder what could be the reason for such a behavior. Does this mean that my electrochemical system or the potentiostat is not functioning well? How can I resolve this issue?
