Foot and Mouth Disease Control Programme (FMD-CP) in India started more than a decade ago (2003), in UP (2nd phase) 18th round of Compulsory Vaccination (twice in a year) is over, but with no future hope for control of disease. However, in Western Europe, without adopting the policy of culling, just the similar compulsory vaccination programme as of ours led to total control of the disease within two years about 60 years ago. We are still living in pre-vaccination era despite of vaccination with scientifically much better FMD vaccines than used 60 years ago in Europe.

The question is who is responsible for this chronic failure:

1.      The veterinarians (vaccinators)?

2.      The Vaccine producers?

3.      The vaccine passing agencies?

4.      The Farmers?

Or

5.      All of us have become traitors to the country.
