this is probably C residues that give you such color. Try to heat it over 600°C in air, The powder should become white if I am right.

I agree with Gilles, it's probably residual carbon in your powder.

this is correct. Just one consideration, if it was anatase you were after, it will probably be converted to rutile by heating at 600C.
