I have synthesized 2 sulfide nanoparticle samples in same run. One sample is NPs on a bare substrate, 2nd sample is the same NPs on a different nanostructure. The relative peak intensity between the samples changes for peaks of 1LO and 3 LO....how? the intensity and other parameters of RAMAN measurement is same...does it signify something? any idea? relevant article?
How were the NPs deposited on the substrate?
The ratio of the first order and higher order peaks often depends on crystalline quality and electron/phonon coupling in the structure.
Do your nanoparticles have the same absorption spectra on these samples or is it shifted as well? My only idea is that something is changing intensity of the scattered light and this can be a solution. Nanoparticles can absorb two different wavelengths differently. But its only a guess.
In crystalline samples orientational effects can modify Raman spectra. Idem crystallites dimensions. May be that crystalline domains are different if you deposit onto different substrates. Cfr Schrader and Bergmannn, Anal. Chem. 225, 230-247 (1967).
