I notice that PRAL values take all proteins eaten into account:

so, all proteins are considered as acidifying. Assume that a person

requires 60g of proteins a day, well balanced in amino acids.

Then I assume that these proteins are digested, absorbed and subsequently

used to synthesize new proteins in the body. All these processes are pH neutral.

According to Lehnigher's textbook of biochemistry only excess proteins are metabolized

generating acidic by-products. So, if that person consumes 80 g of proteins a day,

of which 60 g is well-balanced, then only 20g of (excess) protein results in an

acidification of the body. Why is this not accounted for in the PRAL formula?
