From the various journal, and my prepared samples, I have seen various zeolite particles with SEM. Lab made zeolite was not agglomerated after hydrothermal process and calcination but commercial zeolite formed large agglomerates. How was this difference occurred? Did they not use SDA (structure directing agent) during the synthesis? (I heard there is preparation method zeolite without SDA, I can't be sure...)

The production process yields the base zeolite material with average particle size about 5 micrometer. These particles are later mixed with binder and agglomerated during drying in spray dryers to produce large particles with upper size range of 300 micrometer depending on the geometry of the atomizer and the speed of rotation. However, some applications require even larger particles.
This is the reason that commercial zeolites appear as agglomerates whereas those produced in the labs are not.
