This is a follow up question to the question asked by Sriharsha Prabhakara on WHY THE BODY PREFERS GLUCOSE AS ENERGY SOURCE. Of course, I know about the stereoselectivity/specificity of receptors. But this is specificity about receptors to L-amino acids and D-glucose, I suppose, it is because of the fact that those stereoisomers (or enantiomers) of glucose and amino acids are the ones present in the body. Therefore, I do not think receptors can provide the answer.
