I am using beam elements to analyze a frame. To simulate deletion of the failed beam elements, I have added *MAT_ADD_EROSION (Element formulation type 1:Hughes Liu with cross section integration) and used maximum principle strain as failure criteria, but simulation does not show element deletion/failure.Does anyone have any ideas about the use of erosion keyword for beam elements?

Pls pose this question on Yahoo Lsdyna user group. I am not sure about it but I feel like erosion for beam elements may not work. Have you gone through the keyword manual yet?

@Yihao. I have checked strains of integration points defined at the cross section. Whenever, they exceed the specified max principle strain for failure, the frame shows large deflections, but the elements are not getting deleted. Any further comments?
@Qasim. Yes, I have gone through LS Dyna Keyword Manual. According to the manual, *MAT_ADD_EROSION can be used for beam elements of type 1 and 11. I am using beam element type 1.
