I am currently working with a C. elegans knock out strain and noticed that many of the adult worm dig themselves inside the NGM-agar plates, unlike the wildtype control. Has anyone ever seen this bevor? Do you have an idea why they would do this?
It is just the nature of worms going into soil or agar. If you want to avoid those burrowing, you will not make damage to the agar plate surface. Any subtle scratches they will find and go into the agar plate.
Thank you both very much for your answers! Shin Murakami I made sure that I don't have any scratches on my plates, otherwise I wouldn't have been surprised.
