We are producing curcumin liposomes and when we are forming the thin lipid film, the solution of curcumin+DSPC+stearylamine in chloroform changes its color from dark yellow to black when the chloroform is removed under vacuum. Does anyone know what's happening? Maybe the organization of curcumin between the lipids including the cationic lipid (stearylamine) is making an extension of the conjugation and affecting the optical properties of the curcumin?  When we dissolve the liposomes in ethanol, the curcumin again changes its color to a light yellow.

Thanks a lot.
