Hi everyone,

I have recently started working with molten CaCl2 for the direct electro deoxidation of metal oxides. For that purpose, mostly a mixture of CaO and CaCl2 is used instead of pure CaCl2. I was wondering what is the reason behind it? CaO is soluble in CaCl2 but what is the role of it in the electrodeoxidation process?

Also, It would be a great help if someone can suggest me a good book or literature about the molten salts and especially CaCl2.

Thanks
