20 years ago I came to grips with quantum mechanics and Schrodinger’s wave equation through what I thought were fairly unconventional means. Whenever I talked or wrote about this I was treated like some kind of heretic/weirdo. So I eventually gave up, kept quiet, and worked on other things. Within my own skin however, I felt at ease and comfortable working with quantum mechanics (to solve problems in chemical and solid-state physics), while people around me seemed to be happier being baffled – almost as if they relished the strangeness of it all.
