In the selective environment the endophyte does not have pressure form external environment so they may induce the production particular compound where as in the epiphytic mode competition on the surface of leaf both due to biotic and abiotic factors play vital role in the enzyme and compound production. In epiphytic survival is the main concern for fungi in endophytic mode or in that selective media the stress is limited and not much of biotic disterbunce.
