Dear @Burak Omer, allow me to share one small thought.  I will follow the sharing of other more experienced RG members on this thread.  

Many of us here have been so very well been thoroughly trained to think that number of citations of a researcher, and impact factors of journals are so very important.  "For the last four decades, the Intellectual Property & Science business of Thomson Reuters has offered an answer – the Journal Citation Reports, a compendium of metrics for gauging the influence of scientific and scholarly journals. One measurement in particular has been renowned as a mark of a journal’s significance: the Journal Impact Factor. Rather than being a subjective rating imposed by an outside observer, the Journal Impact Factor has the advantage of directly reflecting the judgments that scientists and scholars themselves make regarding the most noteworthy and useful research.

The Journal Impact Factor, however, is only a single measurement—one which, due to instances of misuse and misinterpretation by users, has occasioned some controversy over the years. Nevertheless, its longevity and prominence as a simple, easily understandable metric continues to ensure the significance of its use, despite the advent of other analytic tools."

 @Burak Omer and all, recently I published a paper in JSSH, Scopus indexed and zero impact factor.  The review process took 8 months and I was very thankful for it.  I learned a lot from the reviewers.  That education process was as valuable as impact factor.  So I do wonder if impact factor is REAL OR 'BOGUS'?  Have a good day.

I live in Turkey. I have been working in scientific research in Turkey since early 2000s (almost 16 years). I investigated many things like the things presented by Yan for Turkey (very similar issues).

I hope that many things in the scientific community will change in the short period of time.

Of course, this is about the majority and minority and the wrongs and rights issue (majority wrongs, minority rights then wrongs go on, I assume)..

I read an important interview. I would like to take your attention to an important fact.

"As research is incremental, any false data affects everything built on what has been published. I’m working on a case now, concerned with falsification of data, that involves the retraction of some papers. One of the papers has already been cited 89 times; that’s 89 other papers based on falsified data that have been affected.It’s also a waste of funds and a waste of time showing the data are wrong."
