Does anyone knows why could this be happening? I got a positive result for my qualitative q-PCR test detection for Cytomegalovirus, but when I tryed to quantify the viral load associated with this same sample, I got a negative result.
I'm not quite sure if this is related with the actual viral load of the patient that could went undetected because the concentration is still not enough for being quantified within the standard curve ranges of this test. All controls and standard curve metrics are under it's common parameters for a well executed protocol.

As to my mind, the sensitivity of qualitative PCR is higher than quantitative RT-PCR and viral load is really low. Parallel investigation of IgG and IgM anti-CMV can help with diagnosis.
