Do you mean by its physics perspective?  because AC signal should flows. When we stored energy we keep it constant to some extent. We can do DC current but when we keep AC current completely constant this is not AC anymore!

One good way to store AC current is to use to electrolyze water to produce hydrogen and oxygen gases. The hydrogen can then be stored and when AC current is needed, the hydrogen gas could be use as a feedstock to PEM fuel cells connected with DC-to-AC converter.
