i want to blending of PLA with chitosan for miscible blending.i need concentration value or hoe much grams of polymer i need to dissolve for the suitable solvents.
I dont have any Idea about the weight but water is a good choice as environement, and chitosan is soluble in acid pH, see my paper about chitosan a novel active ....
Dissolving chitosan and PLA in solvent? It depends on the way you want to fabricate the material. If you are trying for electrospinning then try chloroform and what you need will be to disperse chitosan by sonication, followed by spinning. Hot benzene or tetrahydrofuran cal also be used for solvent casting, where also ensure the dispersion of chitosan by probe sonicator.
Try this...Dissolve chitosan in any acidic solutions in known concentrations. Then, dissolve PLA in warm chloroform in known concentration. Then warm up the chitosan solution around 50 C.. now add the PLA dissolved in chloroform slowly under high stirring... Allow the warm condition and stirring for around 2 hours and then allow it cool slowly.
