Why cannot the mixture of bacterial and inorganic precipitates be centrifuged to the bottom of the centrifuge tube?

Why is the mixture of bacterial and inorganic precipitates still in suspension when centrifuged at 12000 rpm in a 50ml centrifuge tube, but can naturally settle to the bottom in a short period of time?
