Why are there particulates after TP hot block digestion for seawater?

Do any people measure TP for seawater using digestion block (H2SO4 and potassium persulfate)? We have the problem that after digestion, there are black stuff left in the bottom and yellowish stuff on the top of the tube. Does anybody know what happened and how to solve this problem? I guess it is the salt in the water? Thank you
