Increasing the capacity of the thermal energy storage system beyond 20 hours seems to pose an economic problem, as the cost of the tanks increases for higher capacities as a result of the increased level of thermal insulation of the tank.
Regardless of the economics, for me, there are technical reasons that prevent the development of CSP plants with extremely large storage tanks.

I think it is also covering the energy needs for evening, night and morning. Presumably the next noon, the CSP will produce energy. Typically, the TES for CSP is designed for daily charging (I know it depends on the weather conditions).

Your question is indeed a relevant one and extending the energy storage capacities might be a new chance for CSP (in particular power-tower applications). However, they are currently not able to provide much more than a ~6 h shift, when supercritival / molten salt energy storage is used. Despite the relatively low specific cost (numbers in the literature range from USD 5 / kWh to USD 45 / kWh), which ich much lower than chemical batteries, storage size and heat loss at high temperatures seem to be a challange. Furthermore, when working with phase change materials, crystallization must be avoided.
